Stuck for what to say? Focus your blog around a theme...

If you are wondering what on earth you would write about in your blog, focusing your content around a theme for a period of, say, one or two months at a time, can have an empowering effect on your blogging skills.

It will make more sense to you and help you focus your thoughts – and hence it will make more sense to your audience.

Using your blog as the basis for a monthly newsletter is a useful structure to ensure that you get 3 or 4 connected articles prepared over the course of a month. And a theme means your newsletter has more purpose and relevance.

It’s exactly what I do here at CProject; for example, this short article is part of a theme called ‘building you business voice’.

Start by brainstorming some themes that you can use over forthcoming months. Then, using one theme at a time, brainstorm some likely article headings. Don’t think too deeply – just throw ideas on paper and soon you will narrow it down to a handful of concepts that hang together really well and that you’ll feel comfortable coming up with good content.

Week by week chip away at the articles – or closet yourself away and do them all at once – up to you! However, add your articles to the blog one at a time – this maintains a good flow of changing content for Google and doesn’t overwhelm anyone following you with 10 articles at a time! Soon you will have a really strong bank of interesting and relevant content.

Not only are themed articles perfect for your newsletter and excellent for getting you noticed by Google, but they make a very good impression when potential clients visit your website. They will really get to see what you are all about and that you are positioning yourself as a leader in your field.

Consider how you will stack up against your competition!

I was impressed by the passion and delivery of Vanessa when I attended a meeting of the Entrepreneur's Circle. Vanessa pays enormous attention to detail and takes time to make everyone personally welcomed. The Entrepreneurs Circle offers something different with lots of mentoring, coaching and the sharing of experiences with other entrepreneurs and business owners.

Ian Morgan, Regional Director, Business Over Breakfast

Vanessa is as dynamic as ever and the ideal person to lead the Entrepreneur's Circle, spur you into action and help you focus on what is important in your business. Open minded and responsive, Vanessa's marketing background gives her the tools to think outside of the ordinary and challenge convention.
